Smoking can cause macular degeneration and blindness

There are two main types of age-related macular degeneration, wet and dry. Wet macular degeneration is incurable but it can be slowed down by drugs which help stop the growth of abnormal blood vessels.

People with dry Macular gradually lose the middle bit of their sight. First, their sight gets blurry and they may find that colours fade.

Note that smokers are up to four times more likely than non-smokers to develop Macular and smokers with certain genes are twenty times more likely to get the condition.

Stop smoking today and save your sight against the development of age-related macular degeneration.
