Have you ever woken up feeling rejuvenated because of the bright morning skies? The sun’s high-intensity blue light is a major contributor to your mood. Being exposed to the blue light in the evening can deceive our brain into believing it’s still daytime, which may upset your sleep cycles and leave you feeling awake rather than weary. Blue light inhibits the body’s physiological changes needed in preparation for sleep.  Given the serious health repercussions of exposure to blue light after dark, it’s critical to understand the sources of blue light. Blue wavelengths have the biggest effect on your sleep-wake internal body clock.

Blue light, both natural and artificial, can increase your alertness and mental sharpness. Your eyes aren’t very adept at filtering out blue light. As a result, almost all of it travels directly through to the back of your retina, assisting your brain in translating light into images. However, too much of it may keep you awake when your body wants to rest. While this is useful during the day, it is inconvenient at night when we are attempting to sleep.
